GO BUY THAT ALBUM. NOW. Seriously, it is one of the all time greatest albums I've ever listened to. I downloaded the leaked version about a week before it officially came out and still went out and bought it because I truly believe it is worth it.
He sold around 400k on the first day, and passed the million mark in the first week. The last album to sell A Milli in a week was Fiddy's The Massacre, which came out in 2005. We are today in 2008; this year, album sales dropped by some 11%. We live in an era where even video game sales are higher than album sales. Now I may not be a sales analyst, but I'm willing to put my name on the line when I say that we will not see another artist pass the million mark for a long long time. I honestly can't think of anyone, be it a rock band, pop singer, r&b star. Kanye West's Graduation was supposedly an astounding, groundbreaking album, but it managed to sell around 800k in the first week. 50 Cent's Curtis sold even less, I think around 500-600k (too lazy to check sources). In 2008, he beat, in terms of sales, relevant artists such as Simple Plan, Janet Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, even Mariah Carey, Madonna and Cold fuckin Play! Lil Wayne is a such an amazing phenomena, and I am sure that he will hold his title just like Michael Jackson still holds his record for Thriller.
I will post some songs off his album so that you get a feel of it before you go out and buy it.
Lil Wayne - Mr. Carter feat. Jay-Z
Both Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. and Shawn Corey Carter drop the heat on this song.
Lil Wayne - Tie My Hands feat. Robin Thicke
Lil Wayne + Robin Thicke = excellent collaboration
iTunes Bonus Track : Lil Wayne - Lollipop [Remix] feat. Kanye West & Static Major
The already globally acclaimed Lollipop gets remixed by MTV's 2008 Hottest MC In The Game, and believe you me, it is intense. This version is only found on the virtual album that you buy through iTunes, but here it is for all y'all. "The flow so cold, chicken soup won't help."
What do you think?
