This version was the one that leaked first, but for some reason, a last minute decision switched the hotties from Pussycat Dolls for meh-looking Rihanna in time for the album's release, probably because she was considered more bankable. Not sure if that is necessarily right when the PCD version is actually very hot.

I think this song is yet another classic Ne-Yo, in the same vain as 'So Sick' or 'Sexy Love' or 'Because Of You'. Not surprising, considering it's by same producers. Stargate is a Norwegian duo that produced some of the most successful R&B tracks in recent years.
